Cute Cotton Beanie

Such a simple beanie. Quick to knit in the softest cotton. Perfect for keeping a precious baby snug, and looking cool.

Sizes:   Age 3months(9months)
The brim on both beanies can be rolled up to make a smaller size.
Materials:
1 ball Sirdar Luxury 8ply cotton

1 pair 4mm bamboo needles

Sewing up needle
Tension:

22sts and 28tows in stoking stitch to 10cm.

Abbreviations:
beg = begin
dec = decrease
k = knit
p = purl
st st = stocking stitch
sts = stitches
tog = together

Let’s start knitting.

With 4mm needles, cast on 73(82) sts.

Beg with a k row, work 12(14)cm in st st.

Dec row: k1, [k2tog, k7] repeat brackets to end.

P 1 row

Dec row: k1, [k2tog, k6] repeat brackets to end.

P 1 row

Dec row: k1, [k2tog, k5] repeat brackets to end.

P 1 row

Dec row: k1, [k2tog, k4] repeat brackets to end.

P 1 row

Dec row: k1, [k2tog, k3] repeat brackets to end.

P 1 row

Dec row: k1, [k2tog, k2] repeat brackets to end.

P 1 row

Next row: k1(0), [k2tog] to end. 13(14) sts.

P1(0) [p2tog] repeat brackets until 7 sts.

Cut yarn leaving 40cm, thread needle and thread yarn through remaining 7 sts. Pull and secure.

Join seam, reversing seam for lower 2cm on the brim to allow for the roll of the hem.

To make a customized beanie – embroider heart, stars, sea shells or flowers randomly around the beanie using another ball of cotton. Alternately, decorate with pretty buttons.
